Bristol City have confirmed the signing of teenage midfielder Ewan Clark from non-league side Oxford City.

The 19-year-old will join up with the Robins’ U23s after arriving on a two-year contract for an undisclosed fee - although the Oxford Mail suggest that the agreement is worth an initial five-figure sum plus add-ons.

Clark was previously on the books at Southampton and Watford’s academies, and made his breakthrough into Oxford’s first team part way through the 2021/22 campaign.

The starlet will now make a four-tier step up from the Vanarama National League South to the Championship next season.

Speaking about the arrival of Clark, Robins Academy Director Brian Tinnion said: “Ewan has made good progress at Oxford City and I’m delighted that we have came to an agreement with them. He is an exciting young talent and will be a great addition to our Academy programme.”

In a statement of their own, Oxford City said: “The development of all players is a particular focus for Oxford City FC as evidenced by the number of players who have moved up the football pyramid after successful stints at the club.

“We are therefore very proud and pleased to have played a part in Ewan’s development.

“Everyone at Oxford City wishes Ewan the very best of luck in the future and we thank him for his performances throughout his time at the club.”

Clark scored two goals in 15 appearances for Oxford last term after making his debut as a late substitute at Slough Town on January 2nd.
