Bristol City managed to better their last two Championship finishes by ending the season in 14th place, banking 59 points and scoring 55 goals along the way. They will be looking to push on next campaign towards breaking into the top ten, but the small matter of the summer transfer window will take priority first.

While talks have been quiet for the Robins lately, there’s been plenty of talk surrounding other teams. Here are the latest updates on Bristol’s Championship rivals as say goodbye to 2022/23, and hello to what will surely be a thrilling 2023/24.

Norwich City ‘closing in’ on signing

Norwich City are ‘closing in’ on snapping up 16-year-old Gabriel Forsyth from Hamilton this summer. According to Football Insider, the Canaries are looking to bolster their squad after failing to return to the Premier League for the first time since 2018.

Forsyth, who is contracted with the Accies until 2026, has received a lot of interest and Norwich could well land a deal for him when the transfer window opens. Despite still being so young, the midfielder was handed opportunities to play in the senior squad this season, including a full 90 minute outing against Inverness in the Scottish Challenge Cup.

Cardiff City in the running for free agent

Cardiff City are currently competing with Portsmouth to sign Aaron Nemane from Notts County this summer. The wing-back is out of contract next month and while his current club are trying to keep hold of him, he has received interest from higher up the pyramid, according to Dan Marsh.

Out of the two teams listed, Nemane is likely going to want Championship football over League One, which puts Cardiff in a strong stance to secure his signature ahead of the 2023/24 season.

Coventry duo being watched by Premier League scouts

Premier League scouts were in attendance during the Championship play-off final between Coventry City and Luton Town, according to Mailsport. Coventry’s Viktor Gyokeres and Gustavo Hamer were both being monitored, and despite losing out on promotion, many teams will be interested in their services. Especially after Gyokeres set up Hamer to score the equaliser.

The two have both been heavily linked with a move to the top flight, with Brentford having reportedly identified Gyokeres as a replacement for Ivan Toney,
