The Championship season is all sewn up for Bristol City, who had another campaign of transition after moving on a number of players and dealing with record financial losses.

The Robins had to settle for a 17th place finish, and they will be hoping to kick on next season to move into the top half after some end of season optimism.

City may not have had to worry too much about the drop, but their ambitions will be much greater, especially under the hand of Pearson, who has experience of promotion from the Championship.

And speaking of the Championship, we have rounded up all the latest second-tier news as we await next week’s playoff final between Huddersfield Town and Nottingham Forest.

Rinomhota links

City are said to be weighing up a move for Reading midfielder Andy Rinomhota.

Pearson will be keen to add new faces this summer, and Rinomhota is a player catching his eye, according to Bristol Live.

The 25-year-old is out of contract at the end of June, meaning the Robins can snap him up for nothing which is what they did when they signed Mark Sykes from Oxford United earlier this week.

Rinomhota has made 139 times for Reading since his arrival in 2017.

Cardiff complete another deal

Across the Severn bridge, Cardiff City have completed the signing of Jamilu Collins.

Collins has signed for two years following his Paderborn exit, and he becomes the Bluebirds’ fourth signing of the summer, with Steve Morison moving quickly after a disappointing campaign.

Cardiff’s newest signing is an 11-time Nigeria international, and he made as many as 127 appearances for Paderborn.

Swansea ‘close’ to deal

Staying in Wales, Swansea City are said to be close to signing Arsenal goalkeeper Remy Mitchell.

The 18-year-old is set to leave the Emirates Stadium when his contract finishes at the end of June, and the Swans are said to have moved swiftly to make a deal happen.

According to Football Insider, Swansea are now close to agreeing a deal, with confidence a contract can be agreed before the transfer window officially opens.
