Han-Noah Massengo will leave Bristol City at the end of the month after it was reported he would not renew his contract.

Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano said that Massengo is now a ‘free agent’ after it was said that he ‘wouldn’t extend his contract at Bristol City. It was reported that May that Burnley were tracking him, and Freiburg are said to have had a long interest, but now a return to Monaco could be on the cards.

Romano described it as ‘the race remains open’ as to who would get Massengo’s signature. The Robins are due to get compensation after offering the 21-year-old a deal. If he were to join a club abroad then FIFA would determine how much compensation is paid but if Burnley secured his signature, then they would be entitled to more money.

Massengo was at Auxerre for the last six months of his Bristol City career, but could not save them from being relegated from Ligue One. He is not expected to join the Ligue Two outfit, and there is a hope that he will join a team that will rejuvenate his career.

The former Monaco midfielder made 110 appearances to date for City, failing to score a goal but getting three assists. He made 99 appearances in the Championship, and his last appearance for the club was a 3-0 defeat to Birmingham City in October 2022.

In other news, Wolves could be prized out a move for Alex Scott this summer, despite Julen Lopetegui’s decision to remain at Molineux amidst a surprise change regarding transfers. Wolves will have to tread carefully in the market to keep within Financial Fair Play boundaries, and according to the Telegraph, they are willing to ‘focus on young talent’ and will only pay between £8-15 million.

The situation could change should they raise money through selling players, with Ruben Neves available, whilst Daniel Podence, Jose Sa, and Rayan Ait-Nouri are available. Sa’s potential sale could have a positive effect on Dan Bentley, as he could push his way to number one at the Midlands club.

Wolves’ lack of transfer funds means that not many clubs have what it takes to prize Scott away from Ashton Gate. CBS Sports Golazo reporter Ben Jacobs says that City’s true valuation of the Guernsey Grealish is now between £30-35m and that Spurs could make a move. The North London club are said to have made a double swoop for Leicester City pair Harvey Barnes and James Maddison which could affect the chances of a deal taking place. Liverpool meanwhile are said to be out of the race according to Jacobs. The Reds have signed Alexis Mac Allister from Brighton for £35m, and despite sending scouts to watch him, are not pursuing a move, at least in this window.

Alex Scott’s flatmate Tommy Conway meanwhile captained Scotland’s Under-21’s on Thursday night, in their friendly with Norway. Conway - who only made his debut for his Grandad’s place of birth back in September played in a goalless draw. The two sides are to face off again on Sunday at 11.00 am.

Mark Sykes could be in action this evening (June 16) for Ireland in their EURO 2024 qualifier with Greece. Anis Mehmeti is in the Albania squad to face Moldova on Saturday, June 17. Ross McCrorie - fresh this week from completing his move to City - could make his debut for Scotland in their qualifier with Georgia on Saturday. Joe Low meanwhile was a surprise inclusion for the Wales senior squad, and they have Armenia this evening.

There could be one departure from the West Country this month however, after Bristol Live said that City would listen to offers for Kane Wilson. Interest in growing in the 23-year-old, who has yet to make a Championship start following his move last summer from Forest Green Rovers.

Wilson suffered a knee injury in October which kept him sidelined, and when he recovered he could not force his way back in to the side because of George Tanner’s form. The arrival of Ross McCrorie who can play right-back, as well as Nigel Pearson’s use of Mark Sykes in that role, could spark the end of Wilson’s time at the club. Championship and League One outfits are said to be interested.
