Robins among four Championship sides chasing centre-back

Pearson and co have been named among at least four Championship sides who are in pursuit of Jack Whatmough from Wigan Athletic. That’s according to The Telegraph’s Mike McGrath, who reports that the defender could be eligible to leave as a free agent this summer due to Wigan’s off-field issues.

“Wigan centre-back Jack Whatmough could spark a scramble in the Championship on a free transfer,” he wrote on Twitter. “He can choose to leave his club after the non-payment of wages last season. QPR, Bristol City, Preston, Coventry and others have scouted him.”

Han-Noah Massengo top of Burnley’s list

One player who is set to leave City this month is Han-Noah Massengo and he has commanded a lot of attention already. One club showing they are keen in his services is from Championship winners Burnley. According to Goal in France, Vincent Kompany and his side are ‘strongly interested’ in signing the midfielder, who spent the second half of the 2022/23 season on loan in his home country with Auxerre.

Some Bundesliga outfits are reportedly in the running for Massengo as well, but as of yet, no concrete offers have been made for the 21-year-old.
