Alex Scott continues to be linked with a move away from Bristol City amid impressive display for the Robins.

Scott is still only 19 years of age, but he has already racked up 68 league appearances for City at senior level, and he has stood out in Nigel Pearson’s midfield. The Guernsey-born youngster impressed again in City’s FA Cup defeat to Manchester City on Wednesday night, and the performance has only increased transfer speculation.

With that in mind, we have rounded up all the latest on the youngster’s future as the summer transfer window starts to come into focus.

Pundits praise

Ahead of City’s clash with Man City on Tuesday night, pundits spoke about the midfielder’s promise.

Ian Wright said: “I’m looking forward to watching Alex Scott. I watched him play against Preston not long ago and for a game that wasn’t going anywhere, he looked amazing and I’m really looking forward to seeing him play against this calibre of player because they have got such high hopes for him, not only here at Bristol City but in the England setup as well with how good he is.”

Roy Keane added: “This is a great opportunity. He is almost in the shop window tonight with the opportunity to play against great players. He doesn’t get that every week in the Championship. I’ve seen him a number of times and everything about him looks like a top footballer with his movement and his control. Everything looks comfortable and I’m excited to see him again tonight.”

Man City boss Pep Guardiola said ahead of the FA Cup meeting: “They’re a solid team and they are so aggressive. They win their duels. [Matty] James is a really good player, the young Alex Scott is apparently a young talented player as well.”

Romano update

Transfer inside Fabrizio Romano has provided an update on Scott’s transfer situation.

Bristol City’s English talented midfielder Alex Scott (2003), one to watch as Pep Guardiola called him “an unbelievable player” after FA Cup game,” Romano tweeted. “There’s big interest from Premier League and Bristol would ask at least £20-25m for Scott. One to follow in the summer.”

The report claims Newcastle hold the edge in the race, and that’s because they are willing to loan Scott back to Ashton Gate next season for him to continue his development. City may be more inclined to accept a deal where they get Scott back for next season, given his importance to the team. Though, it’s clear interest is building among Premier League clubs.

Pearson’s thoughts

Pearson issued a pretty blunt verdict on interest in Scott during his TV interview on Tuesday night.

He simly said: “That doesn’t surprise me. He is our player and it’s nice to have players that other people like - but if people want our players they will have to pay a lot of money.”
