Where is the most scenic city walk in bristol?

Well, the walk up to the Clifton Observatory does offer some of the most scenic views in the city, taking in many of the big attractions. Established in 1766, Clifton Observatory is an iconic landmark and an integral part of the Bristol landscape.

And when walking around the observatory, you can spot some of the city’s most iconic landmarks. These include the Clifton Suspension Bridge, Bristol Harbourside, Giant’s Cave and Cabot Tower.

It’s quite hard to miss one of the first landmarks of the walk- the Clifton Suspension Bridge. The suspension bridge is one of Bristol’s most recognisable structures, designed by Isambard Kingdom Brunel in the 1800s . The bridge is often referred to as Brunel’s first child.

The structure marks a turning point in the history of engineering and has come to symbolise a city of original thinkers and independent spirit. The bridge is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week and on the walk you can see the bridge in all its glory.

Laura Hilton, customer experience manager, tell us: “The bridge has always been somewhere people come to visit for many reasons. If you don’t mind heights it is amazing.

“There is lots to spot on the walk of the bridge. Lizards on the rocks and there has been reports of otters in the Cumberland Basin and beavers in Bedminster.”

On the route you can’t miss the Bristol docks. The harbour was once a busy docks where sailors and merchants would sell goods before setting on a voyage. It is now a hub for restaurants and bars in the city and also the host of the iconic Bristol Harbour Festival, formerly known as the Bristol Water Festival.
