Hide AdThe tower closed during the first lockdown in March 2020, and since then Bristol City Council have been carrying out vital restoration work on the 19th Century gothic building.
This includes removing graffiti from the internal walls, restoring the tower’s entry door and reparing the spiral staircase’s wrought iron handrails.
Cabot Tower was built in 1897 to commemorate the navigator and explorer John Cabot’s famous voyage from Bristol to North America 400 years earlier.
The Council said the building was an ‘important cultural asset’ to the city, and that the authority was dedicated to maintaining and enhancing it for residents and visitors to enjoy.
