Tributes have been paid to a 16-year-old boy from Bristol who died following an incident at a house party in Bath - while a fundraiser has been launched for the family.

Mikey Roynon, also known as YM, died after being attacked at the property in Eastfield Avenue in Weston, in Bath, on Saturday night shortly after 11pm. Despite efforts by members of the public, the boy from Kingswood died at the scene.

A total of 11 teenagers, aged between 15 and 17, have been arrested on suspicion of the teenager’s murder.

Last night, family and friends attended a special tribute which saw balloons released into the air. And now a fundraiser has been launched to raise money for the family, with more than £2,000 already raised.

The organiser wrote: “As you can imagine his mum and dad are distraught their son will forever be 16. Mikey was such a kind loving and thoughtful soul who cared so much about his friends and family. He was so funny and fearless.

“This money will more than likely go towards the expenses his family now need to pay out, loss of earnings, funeral, headstone etc. anything of their choice. So if you could spare anything we would be more than grateful. Thank you.”

People donating money also left tributes. One said: “Heart breaking and utterly senseless.” Another simply said: “There are no words.”

Floral tributes have also been left by the road sign for Eastfield Avenue. And MP for Bath, Wera Hobhouse, issued a statement today. She said: “Our first focus must be the victim and their family. My heart goes out to all those affected by this tragic loss of life and we must do everything to support them.”

A large police cordon remains up around Eastfield Avenue while the murder investigation takes place.

Chief Inspector Ronald Lungu added: “Understanding what happened last night and why is the utmost priority of officers working on this investigation, as they look to provide answers to the boy’s family.

“Detectives continue to appeal for anyone who witnessed what happened, as well as anyone who has relevant phone, dashcam or CCTV footage, to contact them.”
