A young man killed when a car crashed into the River Avon in Bedminster has been named as Callum Norris - as his family paid an emotional tribute to the 23-year-old.

Callum was one of three people in the car when it broke through barriers on York Road and fell down the bank into the water below, close to Bedminster Bridge.

He was taken to hospital, but despite the best efforts of medicts, he sadly died. The two other people in the car survived.

This evening, the family of Callum released a statement. They said: “My beautiful son, taken too soon. Our lives will never be the same. We are all heartbroken and we will love you always and forever.”

An Avon and Somerset Police spokesperson said: “Our thoughts remain with the family during this difficult time. They are being offered support from a specially trained liaison officer.”
