A bank in Bristol was robbed by a man armed with a knife who threatened staff - and then fled with the money on an e-scooter.

The incident happened at NatWest Bank, in Straits Parade, Fishponds yesterday morning (May 23) at 9.30am.

Avon and Somerset Police say the man in possession of a knife threatened staff before making off with the cash. He was dressed in a grey tracksuit and hoody.

As part of their investigation, police arrested a 42-year-old man on suspicion of robbery and aggravated dwelling burglary yesterday at 6pm. Then, in the early hours of this morning, they arrested a 53-year-old woman on suspicion of conspiring to commit robbery.

The incident happened not far away from where a cash point was blown up earlier this month.

A police spokesperson said: “We are appealing for any witnesses, as well as anyone with any relevant CCTV, dashcam or phone footage, who may have seen the offender fleeing the scene or may have been in the bank at the time of the incident.

“If you have any information, please call 101 and quote reference 5223119763.”
