Police have launched an urgent appeal after a young girl was spotted walking through a housing estate alone wearing her pyjamas and carrying a teddy bear. Avon and Somerset Police are asking anyone who sees her to call 999 immediately.

The girl, believed to be aged around six, was seen walking around Portishead this morning (December 19), including in a residential street called The Finches. She was wearing red pyjamas, a purple dressing gown and slippers.

Officers concerned for the welfare of the young girl are currently searching the area with the assistance of the drone unit.

Detective Inspector Andrew Greaves said: “If you know who this young girl is, or see her, please call 999 immediately. While there may be an explanation as to why she is out alone in her pyjamas, we urgently need to make sure she is safe.”

Anyone who can help police locate the girl is asked to phone 999 and tell the call handler they’re phoning in relation to log 233 of today.
