Truck driver killed on country lane near Bristol despite brave attempts to save man’s life

A man in his 30s died after his truck hit a tree in a country lane outside Bristol. The incident happened in Wick Lane in Pensford on Friday (November 4) at 1.45pm.

Police say members of the public and the emergency services attempted to save the man’s life, but he died at the scene. He was driving a white Citroen Relay flatbed truck when it struck the tree.

An Avon and Somerset Police spokesperson said: “We’re appealing for witnesses following a fatal collision in Wick Lane, Pensford, yesterday (Friday 4 November). At about 1.45pm, a member of the public called to report a single-vehicle collision in which a white Citroen Relay flatbed truck had struck a tree.​

“Sadly, despite the efforts of members of the public and emergency services, the driver, a man in his thirties, died at the scene. His next of kin have been notified and are being supported by officers. Our thoughts are with them in their loss.
