Gloucester Road is said to be the longest stretch of independent shops in the UK, which is the all the more reason to celebrate with a drink in one of its many pubs.
Or, if you’re feeling a little more adventurous (or thirsty), how about getting a few friends together and embark on a crawl up or down Gloucester Road instead?
Whether you start at the bottom in The Prince of Wales or at the top in The Inn on The Green, these 14 venues on Gloucester Road offer a wide range of food, drink and entertainment options, whether it’s a micropub selling hyperlocal ales, a student-friendly cider pub or a sports bar with nine screens.
A students’ favourite, The Cider Press shows live sport on the TVs and serves burgers and nachos, but it’s the vast range of ciders that makes it such a popular pitstop.
6. The Bristol Flyer
One of the largest pubs on Gloucester Road, The Bristol Flyer has a wonderful courtyard beer garden with cosy booths and sheltered seating.
7. The Grace
Since it opened nine years ago (it was the Robin Hood before that), The Grace has become one of the go-to Gloucester Road pubs when it comes to food and the suntrap rear beer garden is one of the best in the area.
8. The Golden Lion
Just around the corner from Horfield prison, The Golden Lion is a friendly corner pub with events most evenings, including open mic sessions and live bands.
