Here at Bristol World we like to look at the positives of the city and celebrate all things Bristol, especially the people who have made it great.

From Hollywood legend Cary Grant through to artist Damien Hirst, Bristol has produced countless stars over the years and had many notable residents who have contributed to the rich fabric of the city.

And if you include the areas around the city, any list of great Bristolians could also include author JK Rowling (Yate), England cricketer Marcus Trescothick (Keynsham) and John Cleese (born in Weston-super-Mare but educated at Clifton College).

Add to the pot, all the famous names who went to school in Bristol, studied at the universities or relocated to the city, and it’s fair to say, we have plenty to people who make us want to love Bristol even more than we do already.
