As any Bristol pubgoers already know, it’s getting harder to find a pint for under a fiver and increasingly difficult to find one less than £4.
With that in mind, we turned to Bristol World readers for their expert advice on which pubs in the city are serving the cheapest pints.
And they have come up trumps with suggestions for local boozers where you can order a pint of beer or cider and still get plenty of change out of a £5 note, and in some cases, even change out of £3.
Here is a gallery of seven Bristol pubs where you can find a cheap pint at a time when prices are rising fast across the city.
Of course, if you know of any other pubs serving great value pints, we’d love to hear from you so we can update our list and also visit some of these cheap and cheerful local gems.
1. The Long Bar, Old Market Street
The legendary Long Bar got more mentions from readers than any other pub when it came to cheap pints, with Roger Griffin saying it’s ‘always value for money’. Foster’s will set you back £3 and Butcombe Original bitter is just £2.80 a pint.
2. The Victoria, James Street, St Werburgh’s
Reader Julie Adams Kouzaris chose The Victoria, saying this popular little pub had ‘cheap pints and friendly customers, staff and landlady’. That sounds the recipe for a perfect local boozer to us.
3. The Mardyke, Hotwell Road, Hotwells
‘Great pub and very reasonably priced’ was the verdict of reader Sarah Kenhard when it came to The Mardyke, where Inch’s cider is a mere £2.50 a pint.
4. Little Grosvenor, Coronation Road, Southville
A favourite with Bristol City fans, The Little Grosvenor is one of the last old-school pubs south of the river and although they don’t serve draught beers and ciders, all cans were £1.50 when Bristol World visited a few months ago.
