Spooky season is here and there is no better time to get cosy, light some candles and watch a horror movie to get in the mood.
Here’s 10 actors and actresses from Bristol who have appeared in horror films:
Jared Morgan, who has been acting for over 40 years, has appeared in many well known horror films.
After initially appearing in Doctor Who and Lucifer, Morgan has gone on to feature in films such as ‘The Nun’, ‘Werewolves of the Third Reich’ and ‘The Amityville Asylum’.
‘The Nun’ focuses on a young priest with a haunted past who is sent to the Vatican to investigate the death of a nun and is confronted by a demon.
Kimberely Nixon is mostly known for her roles in ‘Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging’, ‘Wild Child’ and Channel 4 comedy ‘Fresh Meat’.
However, the 37-year-old actress has also appeared in horror movie ‘Black Death’ alongside Eddie Redmayne and Sean Bean.
‘Black Death’ is set during the first outbreak of the bubonic plague, where a young monk is tasked with investigating reports of people being brought back to life in a small village.
Nathalie Pownall is a film, television and voice over actress who was raised in Bristol.
Pownall has appeared in a couple of horror films including ‘Scrawl’ and ‘Credo’.
‘Credo’ is a supernatural horror film about a group of theological students who decide to prove the existence of hell, before they are all found dead.
Jacob Anderson is a 32-year-old actor, who is most known for his role as Grey Worm in the television series ‘Game of Thrones’.
Anderson has worked in television shows such as ‘Doctor Who’ and horror films such as ‘Overlord’ and ‘Demons Never Die’.
‘Overlord’ is about a young girl who takes her own life. A group of children make a pact to follow her lead by taking their own lives, however they become the target of a masked killer before they have a chance.
Simon Shepherd is most known for his roles as Dr Will Preston on ITV’s Peak Practice and Doctor Jonathan Barling in BBC’s Casualty.
Shepherd, 66, also appeared in the movie ‘The Doctor and the Devils’, which stars Timothy Dalton, Jonathan Pryce and Twiggy.
‘The Doctor and the Devils’ is set in Victorian England, as two grave robbers supply a wealthy doctor with bodies but greed gets the better of them and they look for simpler ways to get their job done.
Roy Evans is a 92-year-old actor, who was born in Fishponds, Bristol.
Evans has appeared in several horror and thriller films including ‘The Company of Wolves’, ‘The Vault of Horror’ and ‘Dr Jekyll and Sister Hyde’.
‘The Vault of Horror’ sees five men find themselves trapped in a basement of an office building in London, the conversation turns to dreams as the men share their nightmares.
Daniel Hill is known for his extensive work in television, film and on stage, including ‘Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows’, ‘Waiting for God’ and ‘Only Fools and Horses’.
Hill, 66, appeared in the 2017 movie ‘Ghost Stories’ which Andy Nyman, Martin Freeman and Samuel Bott
‘Ghost Stories’ follows professor Phillip Goodman (Andy Nyman) as he takes a terrifying trip after being given a file of three unexplained apparitions.
Norman Eshley is a 77-year-old actor who has appeared in productions such as ‘Warship’, ‘The Immortal Story’ and ‘Cold Sun’.
Eshely has appeared in multiple horror and thriller films including ‘See No Evil’, ‘House of Mortal Sin’ and ‘The Disappearance’.
‘House of Mortal Sin’ follows a priest who becomes obsessed with a young girl after she comes to confession. He will stop at nothing, including murder, to get close to her.
Ella-Rae Smith is most known for her role as Phoebe in the thriller television series ‘Clique’.
Smith, 24, has also starred in horror movie ‘Seance’ featuring Suki Waterhouse and Madisen Beaty.
‘Seance’ sees six young girls at Fairfield Academy engage in a seance that calls forward the spirit of a dead former student, but the next morning one of the girls is found dead.
Jordan Waller is a 30-year-old actor, who has appeared in ‘Darkest Hour’ and ‘Victoria’.
In 2019, Waller released a horror comedy called ‘Two Heads Creek’ that he wrote and starred in, alongside Kerry Armstrong and Stephen Hunter.
‘Two Heads Creek’ follows a butcher and his twin sister as they leave Britain for Australia in search of their birth mother, but find the townsfolk are hiding a dark secret.
