Spooky season is here and there is no better time to get cosy, light some candles and watch a horror movie to get in the mood.

There are plenty of scary movies to help you celebrate Halloween, but what you might not know is that there is a vast selection of horror films that feature actors who were born and lived in Bristol.

Here’s 10 actors and actresses from Bristol who have appeared in horror films:

Jared Morgan

Jared Morgan, who has been acting for over 40 years, has appeared in many well known horror films.

After initially appearing in Doctor Who and Lucifer, Morgan has gone on to feature in films such as ‘The Nun’, ‘Werewolves of the Third Reich’ and ‘The Amityville Asylum’.

‘The Nun’ focuses on a young priest with a haunted past who is sent to the Vatican to investigate the death of a nun and is confronted by a demon.

Kimberley Nixon

However, the 37-year-old actress has also appeared in horror movie ‘Black Death’ alongside Eddie Redmayne and Sean Bean.

‘Black Death’ is set during the first outbreak of the bubonic plague, where a young monk is tasked with investigating reports of people being brought back to life in a small village.

Nathalie Pownall is a film, television and voice over actress who was raised in Bristol.

Simon Shepherd

Simon Shepherd is most known for his roles as Dr Will Preston on ITV’s Peak Practice and Doctor Jonathan Barling in BBC’s Casualty.

Shepherd, 66, also appeared in the movie ‘The Doctor and the Devils’, which stars Timothy Dalton, Jonathan Pryce and Twiggy.

‘The Doctor and the Devils’ is set in Victorian England, as two grave robbers supply a wealthy doctor with bodies but greed gets the better of them and they look for simpler ways to get their job done.

Evans has appeared in several horror and thriller films including ‘The Company of Wolves’, ‘The Vault of Horror’ and ‘Dr Jekyll and Sister Hyde’.

‘The Vault of Horror’ sees five men find themselves trapped in a basement of an office building in London, the conversation turns to dreams as the men share their nightmares.
