Carol Vorderman: I’m A Celebrity star stunned after TOWIE star Pete Wicks asks to be her ‘special friend’

Carol Vorderman has been left stunned after being told that Pete Wicks wants to be one of her ‘special friends.’ The former Countdown star, 62, who lives in Bristol, has previously spoken candidly about her love life and admitted that she’s dating multiple men at the same time.

Pete Wicks, 35, from The Only Way is Essex, and Sam Thompson, 30, from Made in Chelsea, produce a weekly podcast called ‘Staying Relevant.’ The ‘cheeky’ duo previously discussed the I’m A Celebrity star, with Pete expressing an interest in getting to know Carol and being ‘one of her men.’

In a new episode of the ‘Staying Relevant’ podcast, Sam revealed that he had been tagged in "the best thing he has ever seen in his life." A clip was then played, which was posted to the show’s official Instagram page, showing Carol being interviewed by a vlogger named Holly Jay-Smith.

Holly asked the TV star: "Do you know who Pete Wicks is?," to which Carol replied: "Yes." The vlogger then revealed: "On his podcast, he said he wants to be one of your men!"

Carol burst into laughter and looked gobsmacked as she said: “One of my special friends? That’s hilarious!.”  She was shown a photo and nodded her approval, saying: "Yeah, is that official now?"

Holly replied: “Well, you’ve got to start following him [on Instagram] at least.”  The short clip ended with Pete in the studio, saying: "Yes Carol, it’s official!”

Sam, who also presents the Love Island podcast, with Indiyah Polack, then announced: "Carol Vorderman has just said you can take her on a date!.”Pete said: "Carol let me know when you’re free, and I can’t wait to, we can talk maths, we can have a really good night on tequila and we can wake up in the morning and I can make you breakfast!"

The Instagram video was captioned: “Shall we get @carolvorders on the pod? 👀”Fans took to the comments, with many revealing they would love to see Carol and Pete get together. With one fan writing: "And just like that it’s a date," whilst another wrote: "If you pull that off!! You lucky b******!"A third chimed in: “This I have got to see! I actually think they could be a good match.”

Carol took to her Instagram stories to ask her 340,000 followers if she should go on the ‘Staying Relevant’ podcast. Both Pete and Sam shared Carol’s story, with Pete saying: “It’s a definite yes from us Carol.” Whilst Sam said: “Come on Carol! You won’t regret it!”

Carol previously spoke to Michelle Visage on her Rule Breakers podcast, and was asked about her relationship status, revealing: “I’m having the best time.”

She opened up about her unconditional relationships, she said: “I’ve spoken about this once. I have a system, which I’ve had for 10 years. They’re called ‘special friends’. One’s been a friend for 11 years, one for seven. My kids know most of them.”
