Maya Jama has impressed her fans after speaking Spanish whilst in Majorca ahead of the new series of Love Island. The host, 28, from Bristol, has been taking to social media to keep her fans updated on her preparations for the ITV2 dating show.

The former radio host took to TikTok, where she appeared fresh faced and laid back in a white tank top and unstyled hair. Speaking to her 621,000 followers, she said: “Excuse the humidity, but I’ve become that b**** that thinks she knows Spanish when she’s at a restaurant.”

She then started with “Hola Buena,” while she probably intended to say ‘Hola buen día,’ which translates into ‘Hello, good day.’ Although what she was saying was not complete and accurate Spanish sentences, she comically made it work with a few Spanish words that she had picked up from her travels to the Balearic Island.

The Love Island host then went on to introduce her two friends, Mia and Jay, who were sitting across the table in “Spanish.” She giggled, seemingly pleased with herself as she ended the video.

Maya’s fans flooded the comments section with praise for her attempts at speaking the language, with one fan writing “😂😂😂😂😂 at least u tried, practice makes it perfect.”

Another fan, who clearly knew the Spanish language, seemed impressed writing: “Muy bien Amiga Mia 😂 not bad giiiirllll,” which translates to ‘Very good my friend!”

Whilst others used the post as a way to simply praise the TV host, with one saying: “Hubba hubba” and another wrote: “ridiculously beautiful!” Whilst a third chimed in, saying: “I don’t know what’s going on but I like it 😅”

Love Island starts at 9pm Monday 5th June on ITV2 and ITVX.
