Maisie Williams will  appear in an Instagram Live for food poverty crowdfunder, The Mazi Project today. The actress, 26, who is from Bristol, was first announced as the ambassador of the project last year and has been working with them to help “empower marginalised 16 - 25 year olds, and help them to reach their potential.”

The youth-led food organisation is funded by grants, corporate scholarships and public donations. Currently they support 70 marginalised 16-25 year olds across Bristol with up to three meal kits delivered weekly.

Each individual meal kit costs £30 to make, which covers the ingredients, operational costs and sustainable packaging. The organisation supports young caregivers, asylum seekers and those recovering from homelessness or domestic violence.

A video posted on The Mazi Project Instagram page  introduces Maisie as an ambassador and the Game of Thrones star speaks about why she’s committed to helping the cause. She can be seen building and delivering the meal kit boxes throughout her hometown of Bristol.

Maisie says: “I grew up in Bristol under the poverty line, and although my life has changed dramatically, I think the impact that it had on me is still felt today.

“I’ve always found food to be a really healing part of my day, and I can really see the connection between the good and the help that the Mazi Project can bring - and doing that through food.”

She adds: “I think organisations like The Mazi Project can be very transformative for young people who have really had nothing. It will give them the opportunity to do whatever they want with their life.”

The Mazi Project promoted  an Instagram Live with Maisie on Sunday. The post was captioned: “We will be chatting with ambassador, @maisie_williams and our aMAZIng young person @elsiegrin789 to tell you all about our crowd funder, the need for action against food poverty and how together, we can empower young people in need. 💫So, put it in your diaries - 18:30pm on Monday 12th June! 🥰 See ya there!”

Fans took to the comment section to praise the actress for her altruistic efforts, with one writing: “Maisie is such a beautiful person on the inside and out. I absolutely love her compassion and determination towards helping others who are less fortunate.”

Whilst another wrote: “This is absolutely outstanding 👏 you need to expand this to other cities, young people need a lot of help these days.”
