Oldland Common: Police close road after serious crash involving scooter

Police have closed a road in Oldland Common after a crash involving a car and a scooter. Court Road is closed between West Street and The Croft after the incident tonight at 7pm.

It involved a grey Vauxhall Astra car and a red Honda PCX 125cc scooter. Police say the man riding the scooter is in hospital with ‘potentially life-threatening injuries’.

A woman has been arrested on suspicion of drink driving and causing serious injury by careless driving and remains in police custody.

In a statement, Avon and Somerset Police said: “Police were called just after 7pm on Thursday 29 December to a collision on Court Road, Oldland Common, involving a grey Vauxhall Astra car and a red Honda PCX 125cc scooter.

“The man riding the scooter has gone to hospital with injuries initially described as potentially life-threatening. His family has been notified and is being supported by officers.

“Court Road is closed between West Street and The Croft while collision investigators examine the scene and pending the recovery of the vehicles.“

“A woman has been arrested on suspicion of drink driving and causing serious injury by careless driving and remains in police custody.

“Officers are keen to hear from anyone who witnessed the collision or either vehicle in the moments beforehand. Investigators would also like anyone with dashcam, doorbell or any other footage which could help to come forward.
