A popular games shop and comics shop are being combined in a new store which will also include a cafe.

Excelsior Games and Excelsior Comics, currently based in two separate stores on Bond Street, are being brought together for the new venture.

The store will open in the former BoConcept furniture shop on Merchant Street in Broadmead, opposite TK Maxx.

It is set to open at the start of November, with Excelsior currently recruiting for new sale assistants and baristas.

Announcing the stores’ combination earlier in the year, Excelsior director Marcus Kent said: “Both shops used to feel like great places to me, but it’s been some time since they have.

“Mainly due to outside (literally) forces, and the shops now just being a bit tired and worn out. Plus we’ve outgrown them. Again!

“We’ve done our best for as long as we could, but it’s time for a change, and (I hope) we’re really upping our game, and I’m working every hour I physically can to make this the best place possible.”
