Motorists warned over two road closures near St George Park

Two roads next to St George Park will be closed for utility works. Chalks Road will close from October 31 to December 9, and Roseberry Park will close from November 21 to December 23, Wales & West Utilities has said.

The company says the road closures will mean £110,000 worth of work can take place to ensure gas can remain flowing safely and reliably to homes and businesses. Motorists have been advised to allow extra travelling time with divsions agreed with Bristol City Council to be put in place.

Wales & West Utilities provide energy to customers across the South West. Simon Lee, from the company, said: “While most of the gas network is underground and out of sight, it plays a central role in the daily lives of people across Bristol. Whether it’s heating your home, making the family dinner or having a hot bath, we understand how important it is for your gas supply to be safe and reliable and there when you need it.

“This work is essential to keep the gas flowing to local homes and businesses today, and to make sure the gas network is ready to transport hydrogen and biomethane, so we can all play our part in a green future.

“We will work as safely and as quickly as possible to finish the work, whilst keeping inconvenience to a minimum for local people and road users.”
