Long-running Bristol charity suddenly ceases operations and shuts shop
A long-running charity in south Bristol has ceased operations with immediate effect after 25 years.
Re:work on Filwood Broadway in Knowle West, which supports the local community and young people, has made the announcement today (October 31).

After being contacted by BristolWorld, the charity said in a statement: “As a result of long-term financial issues, we have been formally advised to cease operations from today, October 31st.
“This means our shop on Filwood Broadway is now closed until further notice and our gardening team are not undertaking any new work.
“Discussions are ongoing about our future and we will make further announcements as and when we are advised we are able to.
“We would ask you to be patient and please wait for official updates.
“Individual members of staff are not in a position to answer questions directly.”
Staff were told they were being made redundant at the start of this week, BristolWorld understands.
Three directors have also left the charity this month, according to Companies House.
Re:work was set up by local residents in 1999 as South Bristol Construction Community Company, before adopting its current name.
It made headlines in recent years after two fires in the space of two years at its charity shop, Re:loved.
