The first snow has fallen in Bristol in 2023 - and there’s more expected later today. People across the region woke up to see cars and gardens carpeted in white this morning (March 8).
It comes amidst a yellow weather warning from the Met Office for Bristol, and the south, which warns of snow and ice today and tomorrow. Travel delays are expected, while some rural communities could be cut off, the Met Office says.

Today, we’ve already seen flights grounded at Bristol Airport and some delays on the roads. Only a couple of schools have been impacted, however.
On today, the Met Office says: “Mostly cloudy with further outbreaks of rain, sleet, or snow. Risk of heavier rain and snow later in the afternoon, with snow more likely over high ground. Winds strengthening especially on the south coast. Maximum temperature 5 °C.”
