‘Is it a Banksy?’ - people in Kingswood have been speculating who is behind a work of art which has appeared on the wall of a disused factory in the town. It was spotted over the weekend, with some posting pictures and possible reasons behind the framed piece on social media.

The work shows an amputee panda with the letters WTF in a similar design and font to the World Wildlife Fund logo. ‘Adopt a rat today.... making a difference. Stop the suffering ’ is painted on it and the work of art sits inside a frame behind bamboo sticks.

But the biggest clue as to who is behind the art might be the poster inside it, which states ‘Free the Stockwood Chimps’. This could be in reference to artwork of a similar style, showing two chimps behind bars, which appeared in Stockwood in May. The two pieces of artwork also share the same series of numbers at the bottom left hand corner - 415475.

This connection has already been picked up by one person in the Facebook group Kingswood People. Lynda Teagle said: “Seems it’s not the first piece by the same artist - def not Banksy though.” But others questioned if it was Banksy. One said: “Looks like Banksy??”

The artwork is on the wall of an empty factory close to the town centre, and the perfect place to secretly put up the piece. A new housing development is going up nearby, and there’s only one or two homes with a view of the location.
