Injured man ‘mentioned weapon, then lost consciousness’ after Barton Hill assault

Two people have been arrested following an assault which has left a man in hospital.

Police were called to the Barton Hill Trading Estate in Bristol at about 4.45pm on Monday (July 4) after an injured man sought help at one of the units.

The injured man said he had been ‘beaten’ and mentioned a ‘weapon’ before losing consciousness.

He was taken to hospital by ambulance where he remains and is being treated for his injuries.

Due to the mention of a weapon, specialist armed officers and the National Police Air Support helicopter also attended the incident.

A man was arrested in connection with the incident at 6.20pm. A second person, a woman, was arrested later.

A spokesperson for Avon and Somerset Police said: “Enquiries continue and anyone with information, dashcam, doorbell, CCTV or other footage which could help is asked to call 101 and give the reference 5222158785.

“Alternatively ring the independent charity Crimestoppers 100 per cent anonymously on 0800 555 111.”

There will be an increased police presence in Barton Hill and St Paul’s as enquiries continue.
