Hundreds of people have attended the funeral of Bristol teenager Mason Rist today (March 22).

A horse-drawn carriage, followed by family and friends wearing Liverpool tops - Mason’s favourite football team - proceeded from his home on Ilminster Avenue in Knowle West to the Knowle Methodist Church.

The service for Mason, led by Rev Sally Spencer, heard how he loved gaming, sports cars and Liverpool FC.

A large number of mourners wore red, while his coffin included images of a PlayStation and football players.

The service included a booklet in the style of Liverpool FC, with Mason pictured on the front along with the words ‘Man of the Year. Player of the century’.

Inside were photos of the young man, as well as a tribute from his mum, Nikki, who wrote of her 'fond memories of me gert lush Mason’.

During the service, Mason’s sister, Chloe, and brother, Ross, also gave heartfelt tributes to their little brother.

The service continued at Bristol South Crematorium for a private ceremony, with the hearse followed by a sports car.

Filwood councillor Zoe Goodman told BristolWorld outside the church: “It’s deeply moving - both services and how the community has come round for Max and Mason and their families - showing their love and support.”
