The ceremony included tributes from Max’s mum, Leanne, as well as his sisters Jade, Kayleigh and Jasmine.

It was held after Max was killed in a stabbing attack, alongside his childhood friend Mason Rist, 15, in Ilminster Avenue on January 27.

The funeral took place in the ground’s function room and was also broadcast into the bar downstairs which was packed.

Those attending included many wearing blue hoodies bearing Mason and Max’s faces, and the words ‘Forever 16’.

The service heard how Max was a popular teenager with interests including gaming, football and boxing.

At The Park Knowle FC, where he used to play, Max’s mum will hand out the Max Dixon Memorial Cup to the most improved player each year.

Donations taken at the funeral will go towards the campaign for more knife bins and bleed kits around Bristol.

Thousands have already been raised for the funeral and family from multiple fundraisers.

The ceremony ended with the song We Belong Together by Mariah Carey, which Max was said to love to sing along to.

Outside, blue confetti and blue smoke was let off in memory of the beloved teenager.

His coffin was then taken to South Bristol Crematorium, where a private committal was held.

The funeral for Mason, who was killed alongside Max, will be held tomorrow (March 22) at Knowle Methodist Church, following a procession from his home.
