Hayes Close is a small cul-de-sac between the park and road. It is located near The Trinity Centre.

People in the area have spoken of their shock this morning.

One man, who did not wish to be named, said: “I’m alright walking through here in the day but I certainly would never come here at night, and I’m too scared to use the underpass to get to the other side of the big roundabout (Lawrence Hill roundabout).

Another man said: “To be honest, we don’t get many incidents around here, but this is literally on my doorstep. Far too close to home.”

In a statement released last night, an Avon and Somerset Police spokesperson said: “A young man believed to be in his late teens was found with significant injuries.

“Sadly he couldn’t be saved and died at the scene.”

“Our hearts go out to them in their loss,” the spokesperson added.
