A teenager has died in an assault in Bristol this evening (October 14).

Avon and Somerset Police say a man has been arrested on suspicion of murder in connection with the incident in Hayes Close, Lawrence Hill.

Officers were called to the scene, close to the Lawrence Hill roundabout, at about 6.20pm.

A police spokesperson said: “A young man believed to be in his late teens was found with significant injuries.

“Sadly he couldn’t be saved and died at the scene.”

The teenager’s identity has not yet been formally confirmed, said the spokesperson, but immediate family are aware.

“Our hearts go out to them in their loss,” the spokesperson added.

A cordon was tonight in place at the scene, while roads in the area were also closed for the investigation.

The male arrested remains in police custody tonight. Anyone with information should call police on 101 quoting reference 885 of 14 October.
