To celebrate 30 years of rescuing and rehoming abandoned and unwanted cats and dogs, Holly Hedge Animal Sanctuary has partnered with Bristol World to showcase 11 dogs currently hoping for their forever home.
During their stay at the sanctuary, each dog receives quality nutrition and veterinary care from hardworking staff.
Holly Hedge founder, Pauline Leesome said: “Some come to us with broken hearts, broken bones and broken spirits and it is our mission to put them back together and make them whole again. Holly Hedge receives no government funding and relies on fundraising and the goodwill of our supporters to keep our gates open for the insurmountable numbers of pets needing our help. Please look at our website www.hollyhedge.org.uk to see our animals needing homes and ways in which you can help or donate. Thank you for caring.”
1. Harry
Handsome Harry has come to Holly Hedge as he wasn’t getting along with the other dog in his home after moving to the UK from Spain. Harry is a sensitive soul who takes a little time to get to know and to feel confident around new people, as he can be a little shy and withdrawn at times. But once you’ve gained his trust, you will have the most affectionate, loyal and cuddly companion who’ll never want to leave your side and will be your best friend for life. Harry has been seen by the sanctuary’s vet and needed a dental, which has now been done. For Harry, the tim is looking for a home where he will get a lot of TLC to help him feel secure, ideally in a place where he will be able to have the space to roam in an enclosed area.
2. Hazel
Hazel was brought to Holly Hedge for a second chance in life from a dog pound in Wales. This gorgeous girl is a very calm, laid back lurcher who loves nothing more than a snooze on the sofa, dreaming of her forever home. She has been seen by the sanctuary’s vet and required two teeth to be extracted, from which she recovered well. Hazel has the softest coat, which you’ll never want to stop stroking, matched only by her temperament. She is a friendly girl with people but not keen on other dogs, so would need to be the only pet in the home. However, she did meet some dogs at a recent Fun Day in Ashton Court where she was ok on the lead. For Hazel, the team is looking for a calm home where she will get the walks that she enjoys, company and lashings of TLC, but top of the list is that sofa!
3. Woody and Rufus
Meet Woody and Rufus, the odd couple! This bonded pair are the best of friends, with Woody often found sleeping on top of Rufus or vice versa. Woody can be a little nervous of new people and situations but takes confidence from his outgoing friendly pal, Rufus. They are good around most dogs but would prefer to be the only dogs in the home. The pair enjoy their walks and sniffing out their surroundings and they are both foodies, relishing meal times. For Woody and Rufus, the team is looking for a home where they can start the rest of their lives in a settled environment and where they will get their walks and new adventures and the all important comfy bed to share.
4. Lola
Lovely Lola is a very excitable and strong young lady who can be very full on initially and has come to Holly Hedge as, sadly, she was rather too boisterous for the young children in her previous home. Once she knows you, Lola is a friendly girl who just wants to be loved and who will give you so much love in return. She enjoys running around the sanctuary’s enclosed fields and her leadwork and recall is improving. Her page on the Holly Hedge website also has a short poem she has shared for all potential adopters to read. Do you have a ‘Lola’ shaped space in your heart and home?
