The driver of a lorry that left a trail of destruction through east Bristol has pleaded guilty to dangerous driving.

Matthew Nolder, aged 50, was behind the wheel of the lorry which hit and damaged streetlighting, telephone lines and several vehicles in Bitton and Oldland Common on the night of December 6 last year.

The trail of damage started on the A431 Bath Road, near the BP Garage, and continued up to Cherry Garden Road before finally ending in Oldland Common High Street.

Nolder was arrested by police at the scene. Officers then closed the roads for the debris to be cleared and an investigation to be carried out.

Appearing at Bristol Magistrates Court last week, Nolder, of Sandy Lodge in Yate, pleaded guilty to dangerous driving. He will be sentenced at Bristol Crown Court on September 19.
