A man has been charged with making a bomb hoax after a major incident closed a pub and main street in Bedminster yesterday (October 9). Micheal Casey, 39, of West Street, Bedminster will appear before Bristol Magistrates Court today.
West Street was closed for more than nine hours yesterday after a report was received that suspicious packages had been left at The Three Lions pub. More than a dozen police officers descended on the area to carry out searches using police dogs and a drone.

Last night, shortly after 9.15pm, police confirmed no items had been discovered. They also said a man had been arrested on suspicion of communicating false information. The cordon was then lifted and people returned to their homes.
This morning, Avon and Somerset Police issued an update on a man being charged.
It read: “A man has been charged with one count of bomb hoax – communicate false information after police were called to a pub in Bedminster yesterday (Sunday 9 October).
