Three teenage girls were approached by a man riding a scooter near Redland Green School, who went on and made inappropriate comments to them. It has prompted the school to put out a warning to parents.

Avon and Somerset Police said it was aware of an incident where the three girls from the school’s sixth form were spoken to by the scooter rider in Cranbrook Road on October 5 at around 11pm.

The man, aged between 25 and 35, asked them for directions before making them feel uncomfortable with comments on their appearance, the force said.

This morning, Redland Green School deputy headteacher Hayden Southon wrote an email to parents to say the school was taking safeguarding issues extremely seriously, and urged students and parents to be vigilant and report suspicious behaviour to the police.

He said yesterday’s report was once of several made.

The Avon and Somerset Police spokesperson said: “Police have been made aware of an incident in which three teenage girls were approached by a man on Cranbrook Road at about 11pm on Wednesday 5 October.

“The incident was reported to officers by their school on Friday morning, 7 October. The girls, aged 16, 17 and 18, told the school the man who was aged 25 to 35 was riding a scooter and initially asked them for directions.

“He then made them feel uncomfortable with comments on their appearance.
