A pedestrian was injured in a daylight hit and run in a busy shopping area in Bristol.

The incident happened in High Street in Westbury-on-Trym on Monday, December 27, at 2.14pm.

The pedestrian, a 25-year-old man, was taken to hospital where he remains undergoing treatment.

The car, a grey Toyota Aygo, was badly damaged following the collision.

Avon and Somerset Police have issued an image of the vehicle, which they want to find.

A spokesperson said: “We’re issuing an image of a car we want to locate following a fail to stop collision in Westbury-on-Trym in which a pedestrian was injured.”

A 20-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent and is in custody.

Anyone who has seen the vehicle should call police on 101 and give reference number 5221302845.
