Man, in 60s, knocked unconscious in phone robbery - police appeal for man seen with dog

Police want help identifying a man seen walking with a dog after a mobile phone robbery which left a person unconscious near to The Arches in Cheltenham Road. The incident happened in the early hours of Friday, October 28 last year.

Detectives investigating say the offender and victim were walking along the road toward the city centre when the robbery took place, close to the Winsley Road junction at 12.50am.

The offender knocked the victim to the ground. He then kicked him on the floor and made off with the victim’s mobile phone. The suspected offender is described as white, in his 40s, about 5ft 10ins, of large build, with short dark hair and a goatee.

The victim, who is in his 60s, was knocked unconscious in the assault. He sustained injuries to his face and required treatment at hospital. He also experienced issues with his vision for a number of weeks.

Witnesses to the assault, or anyone who recognises the man seen on CCTV, are asked to call 101 and quote reference number 5222259257. Alternatively, report anonymously through Crimestoppers’ website or on 0800 555111.
