Man charged over arson attacks in north Bristol is named by police

A 26-year-old man has been charged over a series of arson attacks in Bradley Stoke, Stoke Gifford and Little Stoke earlier this month.

Daniel Cron, from Filton, appeared at Bristol Magistrates’ Court today (April 27) in connection with the incidents, which left dozens of vehicles destroyed in the early hours of April 3.

Cron is charged with 24 counts of arson. After appearing at court this morning he was released on conditional bail for a hearing at Bristol Crown Court on May 25.

The police investigation into the incidents saw a huge public appeal with CCTV issued as detectives attempted to piece together what happened.

Detective Chief Inspector Andy Greaves said the force ‘received a tremendous response from the public’ with more than 30 pieces of CCTV footage submitted.

Two boys, aged 14 and 15, were also arrested a week after the incidents on suspicion of arson. Both remain under investigation.

In total, 25 vehicles were destroyed, including some belonging to Bradley Stoke Town Council and charity Four Towns and Vale Link Community Transport.

Today, Avon and Somerset Police issued this statement: “We’ve charged a 26-year-old man with 24 counts of arson following a series of arson attacks on vehicles in South Gloucestershire earlier this month.

“The attacks happened in the Bradley Stoke and Stoke Gifford areas in the early hours of Sunday, 3 April.

“Daniel Cron, 26, of Filton, appeared at Bristol Magistrates’ Court this morning where he was released on conditional bail ahead of a hearing at Bristol Crown Court on Wednesday, 25 May.”
