The incident led to the brief closure of the Regent Street as police taped off the silver BMW which hit Festival Games and waited for recovery to arrive. South Western Ambulance Service also attended the scene.

Jade Watts saw the aftermath of what happened after coming out of a nearby shop. She told BristolWorld: “Two bystanders had to jump out of the way and were almost hit [by the silver car hitting the shop.”

An altercation then took place between the occupants of the two cars.

Jade continued: “I came out of the shop and saw the guy from the silver car covered in blood. I got him to sit down. He asked me to go get his phone which he said was over by the crash and that’s when I spoke to the two bystanders who explained what had happened.
