Downend: Woman taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries after being hit by a van in Chestnut Road

A female pedestrian hit by a van in Downend has been taken to hospital with potentially life-threatening injuries.

The incident happened in Chestnut Road at about 9.50am today (January 28).

Avon and Somerset Police say it happened when the van was turning off the road into a parking area.

A spokesperson said of the injured woman: “Her family are aware and our thoughts are with them.”

Officers investigating are keen to hear from anyone who saw the van or the woman, who was wearing a pink coat, in the moments before the collision.
