The arrest comes after a man, in his 30s, was found fatally wounded from a stab wound in Fairfax Street by a member of the public yesterday evening at around 4.30pm.

He was taken to hospital but later died.

The death triggered a murder investigation and the closure of Castle Park, which remained closed tonight as specialist officers search the scene for evidence.

Police are continuing to appeal for witnesses who may have seen an altercation involving two groups of men, all of whom were Black, in the ruins of St Peter’s Church just before the man was found.
