A main route through a vtown near Bristol has been closed by police following the discovery of an injured man in the early hours of this morning.

Silver Street in Nailsea, between the White Lion pub and Fosse Way, is currently closed off along with several side streets. A tweet from Avon and Somerset Police alerted members of the public to the closure, and added: “There is no need for concern as this was an isolated incident.”

A subsequent statement from the force revealed that a man was found injured in the street overnight. The man, in his 30s, was taken to hospital with injuries not believed to be life-threatening or life-changing.

The statement read: “Police have closed Silver Street, Nailsea, between the White Lion pub and Fosse Way, today, Tuesday, August 8, while they make initial enquiries following a report that a man was injured in the street overnight.

“A man in his 30s went to hospital by ambulance and has been admitted for treatment to an injury which is not currently believed to be life-threatening or life-changing.

“It’s not clear how he came by his injury and we’re keen to hear from anyone who was in Silver Street between 2am and 3am on Tuesday 8 August, or who has dashcam, doorbell or CCTV footage of the area which could help. Please call 101 and give the reference 5223190309 with any information.”
