An Asda superstore in Longwell Green was evacuated and police were called after reports of a man with a knife.
Avon and Somerset Police arrived at the store in Craven Way this morning (June 8) at 10am. Pictures taken and shared on social media showed a police car outside while evacuated shoppers stood at the entrance.

Hide AdThe force said a man was detained at the supermarket and South Western Ambulance Service was called due to concerns over the person’s welfare.
No-one was injured and the store has since reopened.
A statement issued to BristolWorld from Avon and Somerset Police said: “We were called to the Asda, in Craven Way, Longwell Green, at 10am this morning (Wednesday 8 June) following reports of a man with a knife.
“The supermarket was evacuated while officers spoke to the man. He has now been detained awaiting the ambulance service following concerns for his welfare.
“No-one has been injured and officers believe this to be an isolated incident and the store has now reopened.”
