Firefighters from Kingswood Fire Station used electric tools to release the child, who was reunited with their mother at the scene.

The child suffered no injuries.

In an interesting afternoon for the fire service, the call-out came less than a hour before crews in Bedminster were called to rescue a cat up a tree in Manston Close in Stockwood.

The cat was safely brought to ground unharmed, a spokesperson for Avon Fire and Rescue Service said.

Most call-outs for firefighters in the Avon region are not actually for fires.

Latest figures from the Home Office show that out of 9,360 call-outs in the year to September last year, just 27% were for actual fires.
