A major route heading into Bristol is closed tonight (November 27) after a serious crash involving a BMW and an Audi which has left four people in hospital injured. The incident took place at the junction of the A370 where Brunel Way meets the Long Ashton roundabout in Ashton Gate at 6pm.

Avon and Somerset Police has kept the road closed for investigation and the recovery of vehicles. The force said the driver of the grey BMW 318d had suffered potentially life-threatening injuries, as has the driver of the black Audi A4. A front-seat passenger has neither life-threatening nor life-changing injuries, and there is no information yet on a back-seat passenger taken to hospital.

The force is now asking for witnesses to the crash to get in contact by calling 101 and giving the reference 5222284822.

A statement issued by the force said: “The A370 at Brunel Way is closed at its junction with the Long Ashton Bypass, Bristol, following a two-car collision at 6pm on Sunday 27 November. It involved a grey BMW 318d travelling outbound and a black Audi A4 heading into Bristol.

Traffic can still join Winterstoke Road from Brunel Way but we’d ask people to avoid the area if possible.
