Bristol power cut: Live updates as hundreds of BS4 homes without electricity

Almost 300 properties in south east Bristol are without power this afternoon, according to National Grid.

The electricity and gas company has said 299 homes have been without power since 2.17pm today. The areas impacted include properties off the Bath Road, including St Brendan's Sixth Form College in Brislington.

A spokesperson said: “We are aware of this power cut incident which was raised at 2.09pm and our engineers are working to get the power returned as quickly as possible. We are sorry for any inconvenience this is causing you.”

63 properties still without power

Restoration time has been put back to 6pm as more than 60 properties are still without power.

Fewer than 70 properties now without power

National Grid say just 69 properties are now without power. An update at 3.24pm said engineeers were working on the fault to restore power to every property by 4pm.

Number of properties without power reduced

Update from National Grid states power has been restored to 184 homes - however, 115 are still off the supply.

The company estimates power will be restored to all customers by 4pm.

Vulnerable customers

Any vulnerable customers needing extra support during the power cut are urged to call National Grid on 0800 6783105.

Reason for outage and expected restoration time

National Grid says the power cut is down to a fault in the local network. The company said: “There is a fault on our high voltage network in your area which we are working hard to resolve.”

It estimates that power will be restored by 4pm
