Bristol Animal Rescue Centre is on the look-out for people to adopt rabbits after a stark rise in the number being handed in or discovered abandoned. It mirrors a national picture where, due to the cost-of-living and out-of-control breeding, the RSPCA has reported a huge influx in unwanted rabbits.
At Bristol ARC, there has been a 33% increase in rabbits handed this year compared to 2021 - and a 280% rise in those brought in having been found straying. It means there are plenty at the centre currently looking for new, caring homes.
Rabbits can live for eight to 12 years and require a healthy diet and social company. Here are nine we have selected, to see more visit www.bristolarc.org.uk/

5. Coconut
Coconut is a young, female rabbit who is looking to be rehomed with a neutered, male rabbit who she can gradually be bonded with. Coconut is an inquisitive and friendly little girl, and loves foraging through her hay for tasty vegetables. She enjoys spending time outside, so would benefit from spending at least some of her time in a secure outdoor run.
6. Eccles
Eccles is a sweet young rabbit looking for a home with a neutered male rabbit to be gradually bonded with. Eccles arrived to us as a stray and was quite nervous at first. She is slowly gaining more confidence and is quite an inquisitive girl! We think she will really thrive once she has a new buddy and a large space to call her own.
7. Frenchie
Frenchie is a confident, playful girl who would love to find a male rabbit companion in her new home. She is friendly and inquisitive, and will receive affection on her own terms. Frenchie is a sweet girl with a big heart (and huge ears!) and she hopes to find somewhere with lots of space and plenty of companionship.
8. Lychee
Lychee is a young, female rabbit who is looking to be rehomed with a neutered, male rabbit who he can be gradually bonded with. She is curious and sociable and loves sniffing out yummy treats to nibble on. She would benefit from spending at least some of her time in a secure outdoor run, so she can worship the sun and soak up some rays.
