Bristol Animal Rescue Centre are hoping to find foster parents or forever homes for the loving dogs in their care. The centre has been supporting Bristol’s furry creatures since 1887 and, due to the cost of living crisis, has reported that more and more pups are being handed over as owners can no longer afford to care for them.
From puppies to older dogs, they have tons of canine companions, hoping to bring a little extra joy to your life. Here are 10 we have selected, to see more visit www.bristolarc.org.uk/
9. Caramel
Caramel is a handsome young lurcher who has a lovely, bubbly personality. He is very sweet and playful, but he does struggle with separation and can be quite noisy when left alone. He will need gradual desensitisation to being left on his own, and having adopters who are experienced with this process would be beneficial. Caramel is as sweet as he sounds, and would be best suited to a patient home where he will be exposed to proper training and socialisation. He could also possibly live with other dogs.
10. Benji
Benji is looking for a quiet home where he can settle down and enjoy his retirement years. He is described as a real ladies man, and would prefer to live in a female only home as he can be fearful of men, but with time and patience he might potentially be able to live around men in the future. Benji loves going for walks and walks well on a lead, however he becomes uncomfortable when he encounters other dogs and unfamiliar men. Ideally, he would have access to outside spaces that are more secluded, so he has the option to avoid them. Benji does wear a muzzle on his walks, but has had a lot of training to make him feel comfortable with wearing it. He is very playful and energetic. His favourite toys are tennis balls and anything soft and cuddly that he can rip to shreds.
11. Pintobean
Pintobean is a bundle of joy and loves the company of all humans. She enjoys cuddles and affection, but will also work for food. She can get very excited when she knows she’s getting out of her kennel and will jump up at you. She needs some encouragement on walks, because she will stop periodically without another dog there! Pinto generally prefers to go on walks with other dogs, especially Butterbean, who she can be re-homed with if someone was looking for double the love. Pinto's favourite pastimes include playing, doing lots of zoomies and having plenty of cuddles.
12. Tia and Maddy
These are the resident Golden Girls, but don’t let their age fool you because they still love to run around and play. They walk very nicely on lead and are also able to settle well on their own. Maddy loves cuddles and affection, while Tia is more independent and likes to follow her nose. Tia is mostly deaf now and needs to remain on a special renal diet - any adopters will need to be understanding of this in the longt-erm.
