Police have sealed off the road

A main route into Bristol has been closed by police after a serious crash involving a motorcyclist.

Officers have cordoned off the inbound A4 Bath Road from the junction with Callington Road to Talbot Road following the incident at 1.30pm today.

Investigations have started on an area next to Talbot Road where a motorcycle lies on the pavement.

Officers at the scene told BristolWorld that the motorcyclist had suffered serious injuries and had been taken to hospital.

The inbound road is likely to remain closed until at least 4pm, they added.The closure has led to long queues on the Bath Road back to Brislington Park and Ride.
