School children throughout Bristol and the surrounding South East of England region are looking ahead to the first half-term of the next academic year - the October holidays.

With the current school year set to end and the much-anticipated six week summer break on the horizon, kids up and down the country are currently preparing to enjoy later nights and many of Bristol’s fun activities to spend time with friends and family.

But this has also raised the question as to when is the first half-term break when kids return to classrooms in September 2022.

The October holidays are a popular time for families to book a staycation away somewhere, or travel abroad for a short break in sun-baked countries like Spain or Greece, so parents must be desperate to find out all the information they can ahead of time.

When is it scheduled to take place? When will Bristol schools break up in October and when are children expected to return to the classroom? Here is everything you need to know.

When will kids in Bristol break up from school?

Bristol school children return back from their six-week summer break on Thursday, 1 September as they embark on a new school year.

After just shy of two months of hard-work and acclimatising to their new schools, classes and/or surroundings, they will break up from school on Friday, 21 October 2022.

How long is the October Autumn break in Bristol?

Commencing on Friday, 21 October - pupils and students in Bristol will have one whole week off school.

They are expected to make a spooky return to the classroom when school returns on Monday, 31 October; referred to by many as Halloween.

What is the full list of term dates in Bristol schools?

As per Bristol City Council, the following is the full timeline of term dates for Bristol schools and students throughout the academic year of 2022 to 2023:

  • Term 1: Thursday, 1 September to Friday, 22 October 2022
  • Term 2: Monday, 31 October to Friday, 16 December 2022
  • Term 3: Tuesday, 3 January to Friday, 10 February 2023
  • Term 4: Monday, 2o February to Friday, 31 March 2023
  • Term 5: Monday, 17 April to Friday, 26 May 2023
  • Term 6: Monday, 5 June to Friday, 21 July 2023

When is the next bank holiday in 2022?

Bank holidays can be exciting times for people in Bristol, as people have the opportunity to have not only a shorter working week, but more time to spend with friends and family.

This year, especially recently, has been littered with various bank holidays and extended weekends, whether it be Easter or this month’s Platinum Jubilee to mark Queen Elizabeth II’s 70th year as the UK’s head of state.

However, there is still some more waiting to be done until the next bank holiday arrives in Bristol.
